Musical Collaborators: Filluché Thursday, May 21, 2011 at 4:00 PM at First Lutheran Church of Monmouth, Illinois
Filluché is the handbell ensemble of the First Lutheran Church of Monmouth, Illinois. As part of the music ministry, the ensemble performs monthly in services at the church.
The First Lutheran Church has included handbell performances in worship for decades. After a hiatus, the current ensemble was assembled to celebrate Easter in 2010. Many of the ringers perform on other instruments, and the group includes members of all musical backgrounds.
While many handbell ensembles used fixed ringing assignments, Filluché’s performers often ring at different positions at the table for various pieces. This not only allows the performers additional individual challenges, it also gives the ensemble added flexibility in selecting its musical program.
Filluché performs with a three octave set of Schulmerich handbells, cast in Sellersville, Pennsylvania, and three octaves of Malmark handchimes, manufactured in Plumsteadville, Pennsylvania. The “Filluché” name is an acroymn of sorts coined by the organization’s members, identifying the group as the First LLutheran Church Handbell Ensemble.
The ensemble is conducted by Mr. Daniel M. Reck, an alumnus of the Allegro Handbell Ensemble, who has served as the Media Director for Allegro since 1998.
